17 July, 2008, Plummer, ID The Plummer Community Action Team has decided to sponsor the Panhandle Polecats as part of their potluck reunion picnic in Plummer on Sunday Aug. 10, the last day of the Westside Rendezvous. The public is welcome to the picnic. PCAT will provide hotdog, beverages and condiments and asks attendees to bring side dishes and deserts to share.
The lunch starts at 1 pm. The Panhandle Polecats will play from 2- 4 pm just before the community singspiration.
PCAT is a community organization with a mission to provide volunteer services for the betterment of the Plummer Community. Prior to this spring primary election, they sponsored a candidate forum. They have done several clean-up and beautification projects in Plummer and will partner with the Horizon Community Vitality Committee and Community Pride Committee in painting some buildings in Plummer. The Westside Rendezvous is a project of the Community Pride Committee. PCAT jumped at the opportunity to participate in the Rendezvous and go for a class reunion picnic as an annual event.
Several members heard the Panhandle polecats sing at Plummer Bible Church in June and wanted the group to come back to town. PCAT will take up a donation at the picnic to help cover the fee but will be responsible for covering the additional expense. The Panhandle Polecats are “BLUEGRASS with a heapin’ helping’ of gospel and wild mountain tunes, with a dollop of country, old-time, western, and a dab of the blues for good measure.” This group of five siblings were raised on the Rathdrum Prairie and for four years have continued their good natured family squabbles on stage. They say “The band consists of Jenny Little - laying down a solid rhythm on the doghouse bass; Hank Little - the bluesman - on Dobro and harmonica; Molly Little on mandolin; and twins Austin (banjo) and Bonnie (guitar). All the Polecats sing at one time or another with Jenny and Molly handling most of the lead vocals.“ The Panhandle Polecats will be one of the highlights of the Rendezvous and they fit in nicely with the country and western part of the theme.
For Rendezvous information, contact Kathy at 686-1366 or Pat at 686-9156

Westside Rendezvous Continues
May 14 Plummer, ID The 2007 summer weekend festival was such a success that plans have been made to establish an annual event for the Westside communities of Desmet, Tensed, Plummer and Worley. Last year’s event grew out of the Horizon’s project and one of the resulting projects, the Community Pride Committee.
The 2008 Westside Rendezvous has had several planning meetings already. Kathy Kolar said, “T his year there is more time for planning. We started earlier and have the later parade date of August 9. Community members will again be helping the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Wellness Center finish off Rock’n’ the Rez day camp with a one-day carnival. There will also be two dances over the weekend, Four On The Floor Friday night at a farm outside of Tensed and Rampage on Saturday night in Plummer.”
Plummer Senior Citizens, Lakeside Booster Club and the FAA will have fundraiser feeds and Plummer Action Committee will host a potluck picnic welcoming Lakeside graduates back to reunions.
The Native Village in Worley was a big success last year. The teepee and native crafts will again be on display. Stick game was demonstrated and very popular as many local residents had never seen this native game. This year more people are being asked to display and to discuss their homestead and early settlement memorabilia.
Some of the other activities include Car Show, Fishing Derby, Mini Fair, kids games, parade, silent auction, raffles and a Sunday Singspiration with specials from various local church groups.
The 2008 Westside Rendezvous will be Aug. 8, 9 and 10 with activities staged in the Desmet-Tensed area, Plummer and Worley. For parade applications contact Kathy at 686-1366.

The Plummer Community Action Team (P.C.A.T.) is hosting a Candidates Forum on May 13 at the Plummer Community Center. The Forum is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 9:00 p.m.
The forum is intended to allow interaction and communication between political candidates and citizens so that voters can be better informed. The format allows for all candidates to speak briefly about their platform, questions are allowed from the floor, and the evening ends with time for people to talk to each other on an informal level.
The candidates invited include those running for State Senator and Representative in District #2, Benewah County Commissioner, Benewah County Sheriff, Prosecuting Attorney, and Precinct Committeeman for Plummer and Tensed.
This is the second time that P.C.A.T. has hosted such an event. Dan Jolibois, P.C.A.T. President commented that the last Candidates Forum in 2004 was very helpful to him as a voter.

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe Environmental Programs Office recently received free recycling containers through a grant from the National Recycling Coalition/Coca-Cola Company for 60 recycling bins for aluminum cans and plastic beverage bottles. These bins are free to any Tribal offices or local businesses that would like to help out with the Tribe’s recycling efforts.
Initially, each office or business receiving the bins will be responsible for transporting the cans and bottles to area recycling centers on your own; however, we will be working towards some more organized means of recycling, in the future.
At this point, we have received 30 clear plastic bins, with lids (about the size of a 32 gal. garbage can). These bins snap together or can be stored flat, when not in use. Later, we will receive 30 hard blue plastic bins, with covers, labeled for cans or bottles.
If you would like one or more bins for your office(s) or business, please contact Bill Denton at 686-6412 or Tiffany Allgood at 686-8802 and we will make arrangements to deliver the bins to you.
