What is Social Capital

It is people - you - me - our employers - our employees - our neighbors - EVERYONE.

Building social capital is building our human networks and making connections. It is an important part of having a healthy community. Several of us attended a recent workshop on this topic and left with a driving desire to spread out and make sure that we have the networks in our communities to help everyone feel welcome and be successful in life. One idea that we discussed at length was putting together information that could be given to newcomers and long time residents so that everyone knows what is available in our communities. This information is vital in developing these networks, yet is something that we do not have. At least not yet!
