Emerging Leaders
It seems like only yesterday since Leadership Plenty was offered here. I’m not sure of the final numbers, but quite a few people from the Reservation took the course. Some were already leaders and wanted to hone their skills, while others were interested in the role and wanted to test the waters.
Kathy Kolar is one who has emerged into a community leader after taking the course. She took a leadership role with the West Side Rendezvous and continues to help lead the charge. She has stepped forward to become more involved with other community help projects and currently serves as a co-chair for the Community Pride Team. Kathy even took on the daunting task of going before the County Commissioners to request using a vacant County lot for a community garden.
Another Leadership Plenty alum, Gerald Green, has taken a more serious look at himself as a community leader. From the shyest in class, he has taken his passion for life long learning to the next level by co-chairing that team with Dr. Chris Meyer.
Other classmates have taken on leadership roles throughout the community, some feel more empowered and now voice their opinions on government and community issues, and a couple even kicked around the idea of running for an elected office.
There are many more success stories to share and a bright future ahead. Leadership Plenty will be offered again this year to help others realize their leadership potential.
